XIth International Congress

XIth International Congress of Pediatric Laboratory Medicine

“Bringing the Best in Pediatric Laboratory Medicine to the Whole World”

Fortaleza (Brasil), 26-28 September 2008

Dear colleagues,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the 11th International Congress of Pediatric Laboratory Medicine (ICPLM), the Task Force on Pediatric Laboratory Medicine (TF-PLM) of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) and the Brazilian Society of Clinical Analysis (SBAC), we would like to extend a warm invitation to you to visit Fortaleza in Northeastern Brazil from 26 – 28 September 2008.
Brazil will mark the first Latin American country to host the ICPLM. We plan to focus our attention on  the latest scientific and technological achievements on all areas of pediatric clinical and diagnostic laboratory medicine and we are certain that all participants of this conference shall be recharged and encouraged by its contents. Taking place immediately before the IFCC World Lab Fortaleza 2008, the congress offers you the unique opportunity to gather the latest information in laboratory medicine for children as well as for adult patients.
The scientific program will be wide-ranging and includes sessions on genetically determined diseases in children, intestinal disorders, newborn screening, hemoglobinopathies, immune deficiency syndromes, endocrinology, pediatric reference intervals, and many other topics.
We would also like to encourage you to submit your latest scientific research results to be presented in the scientific poster sessions which are also among the offerings. The program will appeal to a wide variety of participants including laboratory physicians, scientists and technologists, as well as practicing clinicians in pediatrics, neonatology, infectious disease and family medicine.
Being held in a Latin American country, the ICPLM will be especially attractive to colleagues from all countries in the area since we plan to provide simultaneous Portuguese and also Spanish translations of the scientific sessions.
We have not forgotten the lighter side of conferencing and invite you to take the opportunity to visit the many splendors of Fortaleza and its surroundings. With the support of the local Tourism Board, we will ensure that you experience the beautiful nature, the culture and the rich cuisine of the area.
So do put these dates in your diary – we look forward to hosting you in Fortaleza in September 2008!
